Presentation schedule posted for Mr. Young's summative BNW project

I have posted the presentation schedule on the 3rd quarter due dates page. Take your time and take pride in your work: put your best self forward.

Social Problem Collaborative Research Presentation
Students will collaborate to research and present, using PowerPoint or Prezzi, on a social problem confronted by the World State in Brave New World that still confronts the world today. Students will draw a topic from a hat to form groups of four. Student groups will be required to use technology (Internet) to research their topic and aid in their oral presentation of the material.
Part 1: Student groups will first state the specific social problem and group member names.
Part 2: Student groups will research their social problem that the world faces today and will include at at least 2 appropriate and related visuals to aid in their presentation and at least 5-6* cited pieces of relevant information that may include, but are not limited to statistics, national policies and laws, and or anticipated future trends that highlight the nature of topic.
·         Your information may only include one piece of information acquired from Wikipedia. You must use other sources and sites to acquire the remaining information. Consider using reliable sites, such as .org sites, national newspapers, and .gov sites.
Part 3: Student groups will use their research to describe and support current attitudes towards their group's social problem.
Part 4: Student groups will describe how the World State has attempted to resolve the social problem they are researching. Using their research information, groups will examine the World's State solution to the problem and will provide at least 2 pros and 2 cons for that solution.
Part 5: Student groups will come to a consensus decision as to whether or not they would choose the World State's resolution as a solution to the current social problem.
·         If so, one additional piece of relevant cited information should be used to support the decision. (* For a total of 6 pieces of cited relevant information)
·         If not, the group will provide an alternative solution to the problem and explain why it might work better. (For a total of 5 pieces of cited relevant information)

\

Part 6: All images and articles of information must be properly sourced and included in a Works Cited. This will be collected. You may use http://owl.english.purdue.edu/ to help you source your work. You may also use a citation generator such as http://easybib.com/, but you should check your citation with owl to ensure it is accurate.
